The SISD Staff and the Smithville Athletic Booster Board members work together to meet the needs of the our SJH and SHS athletes.

2025 - 2026 Booster Club Board

Oversees all aspects of the Board’s work and facilitates Board meetings. Serves as primary contact with Athletic Director, SISD administration and coaches to make sure things are running smoothly and keeps the Board informed. Oversees routine for securing funding and in-kind support through partnerships and the management of these relationships in exchange for advertising opportunities. Maintains sponsorship records, collects payment, and handles all questions and information requests regarding sponsorships. Works closely with and supports all Board members to ensure projects and tasks are completed.

Oversees Booster Club in absence of President and oversees team/sports season banquet activities. Serves as contact to coaches and team parents to identify the desires and needs for the team/sport season banquets.

Oversees the internal communication within the Board. Responsible for taking attendance and accurate meeting minutes at Board meetings, as well as ensuring minutes are approved. Maintains Board records and secure storage of official Board documents and contracts.

Oversees all aspects of accounting practices and Board finances. Manages the budget and provides financial reports as requested. Ensures all parties are submitting documentation/receipts to be processed accurately and in a timely manner.

Oversees all aspects of concessions stands area and its volunteers for events hosted at SISD. Responsible for purchasing and stocking inventory and ensuring concession stands are game day ready for service and sales. Creates and shares sign-up links with appropriate parties.

Oversees routine of organizing and communicating with new and current members. Maintains membership records, collects payment, and handles all questions and information requests regarding memberships. Coordinates member communication and community events to keep members engaged and informed.

Oversees control of sourcing, purchasing, and delivery of merchandise. Responsible for monitoring and maintaining stock levels, pricing products, moving stock, and setting up visually appealing product displays. Responds to the customers' inquiries and concerns.

Oversees scholarship program and responsible for coordinating, facilitating and monitoring scholarship activities. Assists in event planning that supports the scholarship program. Serves as contact for the SHS Counselor with scholarship application, deadline and all other necessary information.

Oversees social media accounts and is responsible for boosting the social media presence of our organization. Shares information about athletic and SISD events with our members and community. Monitors comments and interacts with the social media community.

Oversees all aspects of coordinating special game day recognitions. Serves as a liaison between the Booster Club and “Team Mom” and/or Coach in regards to coordinating these special events.

See that all funds, physical assets, and other property of the District are appropriately safeguarded and administered.
Keep the Board informed of the condition of the District’s educational system; assure effective communication between the Board and the staff of the school system. Relay all communications by the Board regarding personnel to district employees and receive from all school personnel any communications directed to the Board.
Prepare the agenda for Board meetings, in consultation with the President of the Board. Prepare and submit recommendations to the Board relative to all matters requiring board action, placing before the Board such necessary and helpful facts, information, and reports as are needed to insure the making of informed decisions.
Submit to the Board a clear and detailed explanation of any proposed procedure which would involve either departure from established policy or the expenditure of substantial sums.
Develop and recommend to the Board objectives of the educational system; see to the development of internal objectives which support those of the Board.
Develop and recommend to the Board long-range plans consistent with population trends, cultural needs, and the appropriate use of District facilities, and see to the development of long-range plans which are consistent with Board objectives.
See to the development of specific administrative procedures and programs to implement the intent established by Board policies, directives and formal actions.
See to the execution of all decisions of the Board.
See that sound plans of organization, educational programs and services are developed and maintained for the Board.
Maintain adequate records for the schools, including a system of financial accounts, business and property records, personnel records, school population and scholastic records. Act as custodian of such records and all contracts, securities, documents, title papers, books of records, and other papers belonging to the Board.
Be directly responsible for news releases and/or other items of public interest emanating from all District employees which pertain to education matters, policies, procedures, school related incidents or events. Approve media interviews of this nature with District employees.
Provide for the optimum use of the staff of the District. See that the District is staffed with competent people who are delegated authority commensurate with their responsibilities. Define the duties of all personnel.
See that appropriate in-service training is conducted. Summon employees of the District to attend such regular and occasional meetings as are necessary to carry out the educational programs of the District.
Prior to action by the Board, recommend the appointment, discipline or termination of employment of the administrators of the District.

See to the development throughout the District of high standards of performance in educational achievement, use and development of personnel, public responsibility, and operating efficiency.
See that effective relations with employee organizations are maintained, assume ultimate responsibility for collective negotiations with employees of the District
See that the development, authorization, and the maintenance of an appropriate budgetary procedure is properly administered. Prepare the annual proposed budget and submit it to the Board by March 1 or at such earlier date as is necessary to provide an adequate opportunity for the Board’s discussion and deliberation.
File, or cause to be filed, all reports, requests and appropriations as required by various governing bodies and/or Board policies.
Establish and maintain liaison with community groups which are interested or involved in the educational programs of the District.
Establish and maintain liaison with other school districts, BOCES, the State Education Department, colleges and universities, and the U.S. Department of Education.
Act on own discretion in cases where action is necessary on any matter not covered by Board policy or directive. Report such action to the Board as soon as practicable and recommend policy in order to provide guidance in the future.

Hiring, evaluating, and supervising coaching staff and other athletic personnel
Ensuring compliance with all state, local, and school district rules and regulations regarding athletics
Scheduling and coordinating athletic events and practices, including securing facilities and transportation
Overseeing the budget for the athletic department, including purchasing equipment and uniforms
Communicating with parents, athletes, coaches, and the community about the athletic program
Handling disciplinary issues among athletes and coaches
Ensuring the safety and well-being of student-athletes, including monitoring academic eligibility
Creating a positive, inclusive, and competitive athletic culture within the school

Maintaining a budget for the athletic department and ensuring funds are used appropriately
Planning, scheduling, and coordinating athletic events and practices
Ensuring compliance with school and athletic association rules and regulations
Overseeing the hiring, training, and evaluation of coaches and other athletic staff
Working with coaches and athletes to set goals and develop strategies for success
Monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes and providing support as needed
Promoting sportsmanship and a positive team culture among athletes and coaches
Coordinating with trainers and medical staff to ensure the health and safety of all athletes
Facilitating communication between coaches, athletes, parents, and school administration
Managing the use and maintenance of athletic facilities and equipment

Content Creation:
Write, edit, and disseminate various communication materials, including press releases, newsletters, website content, social media posts, and other publications.
Website and Social Media Management:
Maintain and update the school's website and social media platforms, ensuring information is accurate, timely, and engaging.
Media Relations:
Build and maintain relationships with local media outlets, manage media inquiries, and coordinate press conferences or interviews.
Crisis Communication:
Develop and implement crisis communication plans, manage emergency situations, and provide timely and accurate information to stakeholders during crises.
Community Engagement:
Foster positive relationships with parents, community members, and other stakeholders through various outreach activities.
Internal Communications:
Ensure clear and consistent communication with staff and students, facilitating a positive school environment.
Event Planning and Promotion:
Coordinate and promote school events, ensuring effective communication and community participation.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
Track and analyze communication metrics to assess the effectiveness of communication efforts and make data-driven decisions.
Training and Support:
Provide training and support to school staff on communication best practices and tools.

The Smithville Booster Club is a 501(c)3 charitable, non-profit organization and its primary goal is to fundraise for:
Scholarships for senior student-athletes
Each scholarship awarded is directly paid to the student-athlete's designated school, whether it be a university, community college or trade and/or technical school. The Booster Club, along with our Smithville teachers and coaches, supports the different paths our Smithville athletes pursue.
*Please Note: Families must be an active member of the athletic Booster Club to be eligible for a scholarship. Applications are due in March each year.

Tiger Futures Fund
A large-scale project/item outside of existing scholarships and sports equipment needs. The amount of time for fundraising is determined by the level of the project/item.
